Fun Travel Project - Winter Break, Summer Break or Spring Break
This is the perfect project to do this year - especially before a break or just for fun! In this project, students will apply personal finance skills to plan a 3-day trip for themselves and a few friends. They must create a budget and plan three days' worth of food and activities. It is a whole lot of fun and they can have so much ownership and creativity.
It works great to display Math, ELA, and Social Studies skills. They will have to research customs, and locations and add, multiply, and divide to create their budgets. I recommend adjusting the expectations to the grade level you teach. For example, when I taught fourth grade, students only had to multiply the whole number across the 3 days and the number of people. However, in 5th grade they are expected to multiply the decimal and/or round the decimal depending on the time of year I decided to do this project.
The students love hearing about each other's vacations and it's a great way to incorporate financial literacy, and learn about different cultures/places in our everyday curriculums!

What are other teachers saying?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I used this assignment in my Personal Finance unit. The students enjoyed researching different destination sites. I recommend assigning this activity before Spring Break." - Adriana K.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My students absolutely loved this as a year-end project that connected with Math and Geography. I added a few slides of my own for the Geography component. They were so highly engaged and asked if they could work on it whenever there was spare time. I will definitely use this again this year!" - Connie K.
