About Me

Hey there! I'm Neena, and I am the author of the Bright STEM Learning Blog as well as the creator of the resources in my teacher store. I'm all about creating awesome learning experiences for my students. Right now, I'm loving my role as a 5th Grade Virtual Math and Science Teacher in Maryland. Imagine crafting lessons using cool tools like Canva, Google Slides, and Jamboard to make math and science come alive online. Adapting the curriculum to suit virtual learning? Yep, I'm on it. 

I've got a Master's in Education from the University of Maryland, where I dived into Curriculum and Instruction particularly in STEM Education, and a Bachelor's in Computational Thinking – a combo that keeps things interesting in the classroom.

Before teaching 5th, I was leading the charge in the school building as a 3rd Grade Team Lead. Not only did I bring the math magic, but I also helped my fellow teachers make learning more accessible for English Learners. This is where I developed a love for creating and sharing science and math resources. We were a tight-knit crew, analyzing data, making decisions, and building a strong team culture, whether in person or virtually.

Beyond the classroom, I've worn many hats – from STEM After-school Program Facilitator to being a Math Coach for new curriculum onboarding to leading a variety of math trainings across my district. I even helped develop the Artemis Computer Science Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. 

I have been involved in continued education for teachers - holding seminars, and speaking at different events for STEM teachers in the area. I've been honored with the Sherman STEM Teacher-Scholar Award, and been a nominee for the Marian Greenblatt Rising Star Educator Award. I've also had the joy to serve as a teacher mentor. I love guiding new teachers and student interns through the wonderful world of education.

On a personal note, while still teaching virtually I've made the journey from one side of the country to another! My husband and I relocated to California and we are loving it. We are soaking in all the sunshine and the beauty the west coast has to offer.
